Bruises

What is a Bruise

A bruise is an area of skin discoloration. A bruise occurs Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket when small blood vessels break and leak their contents into the soft tissue beneath the skin.

There are 3 types of bruises.

1. Subcutaneous - beneath the skin.
2. Intramuscular - within the belly of the underlying muscle.
3. Periosteal - bruising of the bone.

Bruises can last from days to months, with the bone bruise being the most severe and painful.

Bruises are often caused by falls, sports injuries, car accidents, or blows received by other people or objects. If you take a blood thinner, like aspirin or warfarin (Coumadin), you are likely to bruise more easily.

The main symptoms are pain, swelling, and skin discoloration. The bruise begins as a pinkish red color that can be very tender to touch. It is often difficult to use the muscle that has been bruised.

For example, a deep thigh bruise is painful when you walk or run. Eventually, the bruise changes to a bluish color, then greenish-yellow, and finally returns to the normal skin color as it heals.

Bruises Home Remedies

Treat bruises using potatoes - Potatoes contain an enzyme called catecholase which is found in most cosmetic products. It is used to lighten the skin. Peel a potato and Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucketrun it through your processor. Put the processed on a piece of cheesecloth and place it over the bruise. This is also good for them dark circles under the eye.

Ice - Use an ice pack to treat any injury that might lead to a bruise. The ice pack will need to be applied as quickly as possible following the injury and treatment continued for 24 hours if you suspect that the bump will blossom into a severe bruise. Apply the ice pack at 15-minute intervals. Cooling constricts the blood Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket vessels, and that means less blood spills into the tissues to cause the bruise. A cold pack also minimizes the swelling and numbs the area, so it won't hurt as much as a bruise left unchilled.

Heat - After applying the ice pack for 24 hours, use a heat pack to dilate the Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket blood vessels and improve circulation in the area of the bruise.

Sit with your feet up - Bruises are little reservoirs of blood. Blood, like any liquid will run down if you are standing. Blood that has collected in a bruise will seep down through soft tissues and find other places to puddle.

Vitamin C - Add vitamin C to your daily diet. People who lack vitamin C in their diets tend to bruise more easily. And their wounds heal more slowly. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Vitamin C helps build protective collagen tissue around blood vessels in the skin. If you tend to bruise easily, it is suggested you take 500mg of vitamin C each day.

Watch the medications - People who take aspirin to protect against heart disease will find that a bump turns into a bruise very easily. Some people taking blood thinners will find they bruise easily, too. Other drugs such Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket as anti-inflammatory drugs, antidepressants, or asthma medicines can inhibit clotting under the skin and cause larger bruises. Alcoholics or drug abusers tend to bruise easily, too.

Back pain blues?

Here are some tips to counter your back pain. Accompanied with some reasons you might be suffering from this common 'pain'.

Rest on a firm surface for several hours to treat and alleviate symptoms of a strained back. Anti-inflammatory medications (such as ibuprofen) can help, and stretching and strengthening of the back muscles is important to avoid another back injury.

Sleep and heal method.

Sleep in a curled-up, fetal position with a pillow between your legs. If you usually sleep on your back, place a pillow or rolled towel under your knees to relieve pressure.

Monkey Bar method
Hang yourself on the chin up bar like you are going to chin up but instead hang loosely, allowing your body to be pulled down by the gravitational force while maintaining your grip. So as you hang loose, propel your legs in clockwise and anti clockwise motion like a helicopter. upon doing it correctly you will feel the lengthening effect on your spine, which are sounds of your spine 'cracking' and then you'll go aHHH~ shiok... type of feeling. Please note that when your hands are in pain while hanging on the bar, please, please, let go. What's the point of curing the back pain in exchange for wrist or hand pain?! =D

This exercise actually puts the probably out of place joints in your spine back into it's original position and also help release trapped energy in that region. In fact quite alot of hip twisting activities as such helps to release trapped energy. Nevertheless there is one more exercise which i would like to recommend that I learnt from a yoga book that 'talked' abt solving back pain problem.

This is an exercise which you can do while lying down on a mat or bed but preferably on a flat surface. While lying flat, put your feet together. Bend your knees such that it forms a 90degree angle then lift up with your back still flat on the bed/mat, forming an inverted L shape. With both legs together, let it fall slowly but steadily to the left side then back up to the center then, to the right side and repeat. While dropping yr legs from the left to the right, do keep your upper body facing up at all times! Like the Monkey Bar Method, you would like the hear the cracking sound from your lower back then it would be considered effective. :)

All those exercises which i haf suggested probably would be hard to solve the back pain permanantly as we haf to pluck out the root of the problem, the actual cause of the back pain. Here i am going to share with you one great possibility of why you are suffering from a back damn pain. :)

Indigestion.
When a person suffers from indigestion, it also means that the person's intestine is piled up with shit that cant be disposed of the body 'on-time!' horribly incorrigible -_-. when that happens it actually expand the intestine thus when the loads gets to big for comfort and pushes outward in such a way that it touches the spine, resulting the spine to push outwards too putting it in contact with the nerves around tat region. So wala!! You got yr back pain! =) This is a personal experience so i can tell you, this information is 110% true. I had back pain so bad getting up from bed had been a torment. That desperation led me to seek solution. I knew i needed dem and fast. :) I had my share. But the good thing is i did manage to overcome tis problem i had through research and finding alternative methods other than medication which doesnt usually deal with the core of the problem that solved my problem so that's why i would like to offer these suggestions which i think I belief would help those who are in pain and desperate to rid off this extra freaking hair pulling ordeals :).

On how to digest well i did write some tips in my blog in one of my entries =)

Overcoming your Mentrual Cramps ;)

Lie down if possible at the first sign of pain, and place a warm heating pad on your abdomen.

Drugs tat can help and highly recommended:

Ibuprofen. It work best to relieve mentrual cramps, and they may also take the edge off breast pain and the diarrhea that go along with cramps. That's because these drugs prohibit the formation of Prostagladins, chemicals that cause muscle cramps and pain.

The trick to easing your pain is to take medications at the very onset of pain or discomfort and repeat every six hours untill the pain subsides.

Exercise routines, practiced throughout your cycle, but particularly a few days before the onset of your period may help reduce pain by lowering your levels of prostagladins. Exercise also helps to keep the blood flowing in your pelvis, easing that heavy and bloated feeling.

Exercise is a muscle tension reducer and a mood elevator, and it may reduce mentrual cramps by improving circulation in the pelvic organs, experts say. If you are walking, strike a relaxed pose that lets you swing your hips and arms freely and lets you breathe rhythmically.

Exercise can help by raising the level of beta endorphins, which are chemicals in the brain associated with pain relief.
----------------------------------------------------
One of the best exercise include cycling with your legs up in the air. It helps stretch your body.

Stretch your iliopsoas. The iliopsoas are three muscles (major, minor and iliacus) on both sides of your pelvis, stretching from your lower spine to your femur - the upper thigh bone.

Exercise: In a partial side lunge, spread your feet apart and turn your body over the trailing leg, partially bending the knees, then lunge to the other side and repeat. This stretches and limbers the hips and other joints but doesnt vigorously compress or stretch the abdomen.

Try this yoga pose:
Sit on the floor with your back erect. Bend your knees, keeping them as close to the floor as possible. Bring your feet together, sole to sole, making a diamond shape with your legs. Keeping your back straight, breath in, then slowly bend forward as you exhale. Breathe in and straighten. Repeat several times--feel yourself sink lower with each exhalation.

Curl up in a ball. Another yoga pose that's a sure-bet cramp reliever. Kneel, den sit back so that your buttocks rests on heels and bend forward to rest your chest on your thighs. Place your forehead on the floor, with your arms stretched in back of you so that your hands are by your feet. if your head doesnt touch the floor comfortably, rest it on your folded arms. Breathe normally, and as you exhale, imagine your whole body becoming more limb and relaxed.

Eating habit
Try to eat smaller, more frequent meals. A lot of food causes blood sugar to rise and fluctuate. Instead of eating 3 large meals, eat 5 to 6 meals a day, each about 2 and a half hours apart.

Reduce sale intake: To prevent water retention that causes bloating. Also, avoid liquor and other alcoholic beverages to reduce headaches.

Learn to relax. Rest, sleep and relaxation exercises can help reduce the pain and discomfort. A relaxing massage by your partner on you would be great too. You can do it anyway you want it. One of the ways is to rub the abdomen and massaging of your back. The key is to be creative. :P A relaxing warm bath after that may also help.

Other steps :
1. Relax muscles.
2. Take a hot bath or place a hot water bottle on your stomach and lower back.
3. Breathe deeply and listen to soothing music.
4. Get some exercises. Swimming and walking are good because they are gentle and non-stressful.
5. Avoid standing for long periods of time if your lower back hurts.
6. Massage your lower back to relieve tension and pain.
7. Eat Calcium-rich food such as Yogurt or leafy green vegetables
8. Monitor your intake of salt, sugar and caffeine.
9. Take calcium and magnesium supplements to relax muscle and provide pain relief.
10.Add a high potency B-complex vatamin to your diet. Vitamin B6 is especially impt, but take no more than 100mg per day.
11. Herbal supplements such as viburnum opulus or cramp bark for cramping relief.

Waking up with a headache?

Here are some of the possible reasons:

* Sitting up suddenly from you sleeping position. For example you remembered tat you forgot to do something and jump up from your bed. That would cause a jerk which would trigger a headache. so if you wan to get up from bed, do it slowly. Jerking from time to time would shock the brain thus resulting in a bad way to start your morning. it's, it's simply not worth it..

* Bathing right after you wake up. What happens when you just wake up from your sleep? What would happen is that your 'pores' on yr head would begin to widen. so if you bath while it is still wide open, chances are, water would seep in resulting in water being sucked into the scalp and trapped when the pores relaxes and closes up. With that, you'll surely be in for a bad head'day' day.

* Have a fan blowing on your head for an entire night. According to the old folks this action will cause you to suffer from 'Tao Hong!' 'Tao' means head and 'Hong' means wind. Direct translation in England means, windy head. You dun wan a windy head i can assure you, you will be screaming in pain like a 'taohong' another meaning for 'siao lang' or(mad person).

* Lastly, if you sleep under direct sunlight hitting yr head, it might award you with a headache upon yr reverie. Not to worry though as you will not develop a 'sun head'. Maybe just a little more tan and with head feeling big and heavy.

So just incase you wonder why and how headaches come abt during the morning or when you just wake up? These are the possible reasons. :)

Fruits that Heal by Tan Li Ann

Here are some of the articles i took from a holistic website :)

Papaya

Papaya is a great Detoxifier. Ever so often it is beneficial to flush our body system of parasites and she recommends a teaspoon of its peppery tasting seeds once a week. It helps to get rid of threadworms and stomach fluke.

And if you have digestive conditions, papaya is increasingly marketed as a supplement to support digestion, especially of protein. It is full of a substance called papain, which is a digestive enzyme. The greener the fruit is, the more papain it contains.

It is said that papaya seeds can do us alot of goods so maybe you can start including papaya seeds in your diet to improve yr health! =)

Guava, Multi-Purpose Healer

“The Malays believe guava helps with dengue fever to purify your blood. They believe in drinking guava juice. That helps to keep the parasites out of your blood so that the blood platelets do not drop and so there is a lower chance of getting malaria,” explains Anwari.

Current scientific studies indeed show that guava has an anti-malarial action. The juice and especially the tea from the leaves kills many nasty pathogens such as bacteria, fungi, yeast and amoebas, it even stops diarrhea resulting from these microscopic pests. Guava juice is particularly safe for infants with diarrhea.

Thais have a fondness for guava too because of its purported benefits with diabetes. Again, studies confirm this and more. Guava has been shown to lower blood pressure, reduce blood sugar, decrease general cholesterol levels while increasing good cholesterol levels (high density lipoprotein). It also has heart protective qualities. Tests on rats show that guava leaf or juice does not have any toxic effects.

For The Constipated and Indigestabled Here are some tips

Just a background info of what would happen if indigestion problem is dragged on for too long not rectified.

1. Back pain might result due to spine contact with the nerves along that region when the intestine is overloaded with waste resulting it to push outwards hitting the spine.

2. Cancer. Due to the pile up of waste in the body an inability to rid them off the system, toxins is contained in your body and flows free flow in your entire system. In the long run your body cells which lives on oxygen is deprived of their only food source but filled and drowned in toxins. So in order to survive, they haf to mutate so that they can survive without their only source of food, oxygen. The result of them mutating, turn them into cancer cells. it's simple as that.

There are many other bad outcomes that will come with bad digestion of our body. Eg. Fatigue and inability to concentrate jus to name a few more. Nevertheless here are the tips! :)

Tip 1.
When you drink, dun eat.

Drinking while eating will dilute the digestive acid as it is being produced while you are eating therefore it will slow down the digestive process which might lead to a, er, a slow down in digestion process..

if you really need to drink, drink 20-30mins before and after yr meals. That way, your water is absorbed into your system more smoothly and comfortably too. Also, you ll no longer feel bloated or full half way through your meals. That means you ll get to eat everything and not waste any food! more imptly the taste of the food will be more obvious and therefore means tat it'll be more tasty too. :)

Tip 2.
Do breathing exercises.

First, Breath in through your nose for 6 seconds continuously down to your diaphram(stomach), see it 'grow'. Hold your breath of whatever amt of air you taken in for the next 20- 25secs den blow out through your mouth for 11secs. Do abt 5 sets per day while in toilet when you need the extra 'push' or jus anywhere when you are free. you ll sure to see an improve in your output in 10 days time.

With that, your body dun haf to work OT while you are sleeping but helping you repair your body and recharge it thus you ll experience more energy and zest to begin the next day with! For guys, your body will den haf more time to allocate soldiers to increase the sperm count in your body and fatigue would be less likely to set in after you shagged! :p

Tip 3.
Avoid diary products.

It basically clogs up the system like a pool of pig oil left in a bowl for very long and forming into whitish jelly. It gets hardened up and clogs your system in jellyish form, preventing your intestine from absorbing nutrients like vitamins etc into yr system.

From studies, milk or diary products increase the risk of breast cancer in women too. So ladies out there, take dem at your own risk!

So instead of taking these 'food' grapes and beans are great alternatives.

Tip 4.
Drink one/two glasses of water upon reverie.

This works wonders... i dunno it jus spurs your stomach to flush it out jus so much easily , working like a perfect lubricant :) for the googoos to slide out with ease and poise ha. remember, it only works immediately after you wake up. :) Water when used correctly can do magic ;). It's proven~

more to come....
